Traditional Cooking Classes in Crete - Do it!
My multigenerational family of 8 spent the day with Traditional Cooking Classes during our port visit to Crete on a recent cruise.We were greeted with an air conditioned van by Tony, our driver, after getting off the cruise ship bus transfer at the port gate. He told us about Crete as he drove us to the village of our cooking class.When we arrived in Archanes, we were taken to a cute business with a nice, clean restroom, small kitchen, and covered porch area. It was nice that there was a fan set up to help keep us cool. Tables were set up on the porch as well, with the ingredients and cooking tools we'd need for the morning. We prepared stuffed peppers & tomatoes and tzatziki. Some of my family members don't care for tomatoes, so they made extra peppers. While the peppers and tomatoes cooked, we were served local greek wines. Our hostess was sweet and informative (I think her name was Maria). She even made a short trek down the street to buy local bread for my parents, who love Greek olive oil with their meals.Our morning cooking was relaxing and fun. We made fantastic family memories.I did arrange a meat selection prior or our arrival, but somewhere it got lost in translation. So we did have a veggies only meal. My teenager was still hungry, so our hostess brought him meat, but I had to ask a couple of times. Learn to prepare some traditional Greek recipes
We spent the day learning some traditional Greek recipes and then enjoyed eating the food we had prepared with a glass of wine. The host was lovely, she was patient and funny, we learnt at a comfortable pace, with ample time to get to know the other guests between dishes. All required cooking equipment and ingredients were provided and the preparation area was thoroughly cleaned and re set between the preparation of each dish. Great time making memories
Had a very warm welcomee from the moment we were picked up through to being dropped off at the end of the evening.The lessons we done is a informative and fun way that was easy to follow.Have pick up some new recipes to add to my list of meals I can prepare and cook.Location was lovely and being located by the sea added to the experience even more.If you are looking for some dodo to do on holiday that the usual tourist day trips I would recommend doing this course.Not only is it an experience you can share with friends and family it is one souvenir that will not take up any space in your suite case and will last a long time.To finish off you get to enjoy the food you have cooked while enjoying the sea view

Great experience!
My daughter and I picked this experience because it happened later in the day than other tours, and they picked us up directly from our hotel in Heraklion. Due to very high winds, our venue was changed, but our driver brought us to an olive grove, where we were able to enjoy the beautiful view. Friendly and a great class
We did a cooking class and it was so much fun! We were picked up at the hotel by Yanni and his sister Angela gave us the cooking class. Both were very friendly and we made delicious food during the class. We’d definitely recommend it!
